Taxi or Private Driver in Cannes: Which Should You Choose?

In Cannes, you have two options for getting around: the traditional taxi or a private hire vehicle with driver (VTC). Here is an honest comparison, by chauffeurs who know the city inside out.

Two services, two logics

A taxi is hailed in the street or waits at a rank, with a meter that keeps running in traffic. A VTC is booked in advance: the price is set at booking and never changes, even if you get stuck on the Croisette or the A8.

The price question

With a taxi, the final fare depends on traffic and the route taken. With CabNow, popular journeys have fixed prices: for example €85 by sedan and €115 by van between Nice airport and Cannes, tolls and luggage included. You know the exact amount before getting on board.

Availability in high season and during festivals

During the Cannes Film Festival, MIPIM or the Lions, demand explodes and finding an available taxi becomes a challenge. A VTC booked in advance guarantees a chauffeur at the agreed time — including very early morning departures to Nice airport.

Our chauffeur's advice

• Immediate departure from the city centre off-season: a taxi may be enough
• Airport transfer, train station, event or any critical schedule: book a VTC at a fixed price
• Large family or group: a 7-seater VTC van avoids ordering two cars
